You are an Artist… if you need to make art!
We stand on the hill tops, overlooking the masses, observing and dreaming on canvas and walls.
We sit with the workers and sketch their authentic faces in fields and factories.
Photographers are waiting for the moment when light stands in awesome contrast.
Art may begin with a stick in the sand at the beach. And age does not hold any claim on mighty art. My youngest students teach me so much.
This spring, I’m preparing a special art exhibit for two of my young students in the town of Newberg, Oregon.
Presenting these young artists to our community gives us all an opportunity to honor how a child sees the world. Their work will be shown in a formal setting with respect for young vision.
We are in a new year, in a new time. Each of us blazing a new trail like pioneers on untried ground.
As a guide for artists, young and old, I find that the calling to be creative in each person is expressed in completely different ways, but the central feature of their souls are identical, no matter what their age. It is a timeless quality that seeks to find a balance point through their art.
And the children will lead us…
